Bouquet Packaging

This was a student project. I was tasked with creating packaging for a product (of my choosing) that would be sold at a festival. I chose to do bouquet packaging.

Duration: 3 weeks

Role: Designer

Challenge: Create packaging that makes it easy to carry around flowers during a festival without crushing them.

Solution: I designed a bag that is shaped like a funnel, made out of a thick paper and has a hole at the bottom for the stems. I used grommets to run a strap through the bag so it could be worn over the shoulder.

My Process

I started by doing a competitive analysis to see what types of boquet packaging already existed. Then I did some sketches of different ways to structure the bag. Once I decided on the structure, I drew it and cut it out of a piece of paper. I also taped it together to get a better idea of what the final product would look like. I took a picture (seen below, right) and traced it in Adobe Illustrator to use as a template.

Then I started to sketch flowers for the outside of the bag. I chose some of the sketches to scan in and created floral patterns by colorizing them and using the pattern tool in Illustrator. I narrowed it down to two designs to apply to the template. I printed them both off, very carefully cut them out by hand and assembled the bags.
